Beauty and what to make of it

What is beauty? Dear reader of ClothesFreeLife, I ask you: what is beauty? The world is full of it. People are obsessed with it. Is this lady a beauty? Some people will say yes. Some won’t agree. Oh, certainly she is very pleasing to the eye, but I wonder how she looks if all the make up is removed. When her hair hangs down in a normal way. When all the photoshop additions have been removed. Every body is beautiful. Many naturists and nudists proclaim this. Every body is beautiful. Is it? Why? Let’s think about this. There are all kinds of people. All kinds of body shapes. Big, small, wide, narrow, round, black, white, red, yellow, and many of those can be combined in a person’s physical appearance. That’s like nature. Trees, flowers, birds, animals, they all come in many shapes and colours as well. Of course the jury is still debating about the colours of polar bears, but that aside. Everyone is beautiful. This is more my idea about people. Not every body …

naturism’s dirty little secret that you should know

Naturism has a dirty little secret and it’s time it was exposed. Shh.. Come closer and I will tell you.  Are you ready for this? Can you handle the truth? Well,  like it or not here is the one thing some naturists and nudists don’t want you to know. NATURISM NUDISM AND CLOTHES FREE LIVING DOESN’T SOLVE ALL THE WORLD’S PROBLEMS? WHY? WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS Yes that’s it! It is out of the bag! Naturists, nudists and people who practice clothes free living are human beings. Contrary to conventional wisdom we  aren’t freaks, we aren’t pervs we aren’t crazy, we aren’t social misfits, we aren’t hippies, (well some of us aren’t), we are human beings. We come from all walks of life. We come in all shapes and sizes. We are historically and increasing diverse, and guess what? We don’t all think alike. We don’t all believe the same things. We aren’t all liberals, we aren’t all conservatives. We aren’t all old, we aren’t all young. What does it mean that we are human …

Redefining Nudity by Amber Amour

I discovered the efforts of Amber Amour on Instagram after following an IG account about consent culture whose creative videos helped communicate the importance of understanding how consent could help to prevent sexual assault. The account way deleted by Instagram because the videos used animations of the human genitals to illustrate the point. However the discovering of Ms. Aamour a feminist educator activist for developing a culture of consent led to several conversations about her self-described nudist life and her work in the consent culture movement. As a survivor of sexual assault and someone who readily shares her  practice of  clothes free living, she brings a unique voice and perspective to the intersections of nudist practice, naturist ideals and building a consent culture. Finding these intersections of purpose is something we at Clothes Free Life believe is an important part of the way forward in normalizing clothes free living. Earl D editor-in-chief Clothes Free Life. I first was exposed to nudism (no pun intended) in 2013 when I moved into a NYC apartment with nine people, one of …

unnatural and unconstitutional in the natural state

Guest contributor unconstitutional Arkansas For those who love irony, “the natural state” (nude) is illegal in “The Natural State” (Arkansas). AR 5-68-204 is the most severe anti-nudism law in the country! Across the country and around the world, naturists are often plagued by laws that impede our ability to enjoy nudism free from harassment or risk of prosecution. In many cases, the culprit is a “public indecent exposure” law that is so poorly and loosely worded that simple, non-sexual, non-offensive nudity gets outlawed in the process. And yes, we have one of those, but Arkansas also has a law that specifically targets nudism on private property. And that’s not even the worst part. I kid you not, AR 5-68-204 is so extreme that it is a crime to “advocate” nudism. You can be fined $2500 and spend a year in jail just for expressing a favorable opinion about nudism. If you are thinking “But that violates free speech!”, you are absolutely correct. There have been several people who suggest that someone just needs to break …

“veggans”? do we really need an eggsemption to get protein

Vegetarian – consisting wholly of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and sometimes eggs or dairy products Vegan – a person who does not eat any food that comes from animals and who often also does not use animal products Merriam-Webster Dictionary I recently discovered this article “Vegganism: Why Some Vegans Eat Eggs”. and was a little disturbed by the content and the idea that seems absurd to me of “veggans”. Apparently there are people who call themselves “veggans” (not a misspelling of vegan). These are folks who say they eat vegan, but still incorporate eggs into their diet. When I read this article, I was floored. I had to stop and think for a minute because in my understanding of veganism, vegans don’t eat eggs. I’ve been vegan going on three years now and I haven’t eaten a single egg. I believe the proper term for people who eat eggs and no other meat, is “vegetarian”. I am highly favorable of CNN and their website, especially the opinion and health sections. So I read further. I probably should’ve started with …

Nudism. Not just for being naked.

Isn’t this coincidental? I just saw this quote on ClothesFreeLife.com: “I still think that nudism . . . is itself a kind of therapy” • Abraham Maslow A few days ago I was contacted on Twitter by someone new to that part of the Internet. This man (I shan’t mention his name because I still respect privacy) told me that he’d suffered from severe depressions. He turned to therapy and tablets and none of that helped him any further. That didn’t surprise me very much. Usually tablets and pills are things that suppress symptoms, they don’t solve anything. It’s like a mechanic’s advice to put cotton in your ears so you don’t hear that strange rattle in the engine of your car. Therapy can help in some cases, but not everyone is the same case. As was the case with this man. He kept looking for ways to deal with his situation and somehow found out about naturism. He started being naked around the house. A few hours at first, then days. To his astounding …

Olive Dell Ranch – Bare Burro 2016

The 7th Annual Bare Burro 5k takes place this Sunday, April 10th at the Olive Dell Ranch. I wasn’t able to run last year but I will be running this year. I even trained for it! That should help for sure when racing up and down the hills of the course. The weather is not cooperating 100%. There is a chance of rain but the temps will be in the 60’s so that won’t stop me from having fun. In fact running in the rain naked will be awesome. 2016 Has Been Sunny! Here is SoCal the winter was very mellow and we had more sun that usual. My goal to get out in the sun at least 10 times a month has been exceeded every month so far. There have been a few cool days but mostly days of full sun which creates wonderful freehiking moments. Get those buns out and hike naked! Here’s to a great 2016! Stay Naked! ? ?

3 naked activities for a spring week-end

Originally posted on Nu et heureux – Naked and Happy:
Eh… TGIF! And tonight the week-end starts. So as I was thinking about what to share today, I came up with three activities that I will do over the week-end weather permitting of course, and that you can do too. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, nothing incredible, just three simple activities that do not require clothes apart from a hat if the sun shines and good shoes if the terrain is spiky. Here we go! A naked hike. Open a map of your surroundings, a hiking map if possible, spot a nice track you have not done, grab your shoes, your hat and some sunscreen. Pack some snacks and water, a lot of water, and off you go. 4, 5 or 6 hours of total nakedness in nature. A naked swim. It’s beach time again. The water will be chilly for course, but cold water is very good for the skin and for overall health. So grab a towel, sunscreen, snacks, water and head to the…
