Nude or naked? - Some of you may know that I write books. Writing books and stories means you have to consider the meaning of words carefully. Considering the words ‘nude’ and ‘naked’. They both refer to the state of being undressed, uncovered, clothes-free, yes. Still, to me they have a different charge as it were. Wikipedia’s take on these point to the same thing. Nudity. To me there is however an underlying difference. What nude is to me. To me this is nude. You may argue that I’m naked in this picture so let me explain. When I am nude, I’m undressed, I appreciate it to the max and I am ‘in my power’. I am undressed by my own choice and proud of my state of being. When I took  this picture it wasn’t warm. There was fog all around. Still I felt wonderful there, in nature, one with the elements of the moment. That is when you are in your centre of power. What is naked to me. Here is an example of someone I think …
naked soul reflections – seeing the other door - New episode of Naked Soul Reflections – “Seeing the Other Door” Link to audio on Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/user/clothesfreelife/naked-soul-reflection-seeing-the-other-d I found myself standing approaching the front entrance to my building, which has a set of double doors. A long stream of people was coming out of the left door. However, the person in front of me, instead of opening the door on the right to enter, stood waiting for the stream on the left to end. How often do we, in our lives, stand waiting for the drama/busyness on the left to end before taking action, when there might have been a door on the right that we could have opened all along? In this episode I touch on how clothes free life and clothes free camping have helped me see alternate doors in other areas of my life. This week I invite you to think  on three things: What is one thing/area in your life where you feel stuck? Is there another door? What can you draw on from your clothes free life that could help you …
CFL moving to a new home - On the heels of the fresh paint on our sister site myclothesfreelife.com this site will be moving to a new home. So we want to take a moment to tell you what that will mean. First we have told you that we are on a hiatus form posting on this site.  That will end once the move is complete. In fact there are new posts and newsbytes waiting. The new site will have a new look and some new features that we have been unable to provide so far like a directory of related web sites with user submission, a new event calendar. We will be migrating our email and web followers to the new site. There might be a down period as we make the switch. Some things won’t change however. Still great original content, still news you want to read, still stories from ordinary people living clothes free. The new site will allow to expand our scope and reach. So so stay tuned for clothes free life 2.5!
Please stand by - Please stand by as we are making a few changes to the web site that may cause a few glitches. For the next couple days we won’t be posting much until we complete the upgrade so “bare” with us. There are some cool things coming on the other side.
naked soul reflection – textures of truth - In this episode of Naked Soul Reflection, I share some reflections that arose for me as I walked about barefoot on Sunday. Link to audio: https://www.spreaker.com/user/clothesfreelife/naked-soul-reflection-textures-of-truth Walking around barefoot reminded me of just how textured the world is. Usually, when I walk around in my shoes with a separation between me and the world, all I ever feel are is the texture of the shoe. I forget that ground, earth, floors change in character, temperature, texture, etc. Taking off my shoes reconnected me to a more honest reality. The real world is diverse in character. This also tied into a change in attitude I experienced about my body and my health. I thought my body was just this blob that, well, “This is just the way it is. Nothing I do is making a difference.” I thought it unresponsive, until I realized that I needed to change my perspective and approach. Once I did, my body began to shift and respond positively to the different foods I gave it, the increase in sleep, and the other adjustments …
Polo Beach Update – August 2016 - Originally posted on Hawai`i Naturist:
Regular beach users are reporting that the manager of the nearby polo field is sending employees to ask nude beach goers to cover-up as well as complaining about beach nudity to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). This has resulted in recent HPD visits to the beach, and citations issued to nude beach goers who refused to cover-up. Naturists and nudists continue to responsibly enjoy the beach; however, caution is advised.  Be on the lookout for suspicious people or police approaching and be prepared to cover-up bottoms as a precaution to avoid confrontations with HPD officers and possible citations.  Top-free for both genders should not be an issue at this city and county beach park.  Practice aloha and notify other beach users if you see anything suspicious. Several beach users are contemplating legal action to challenge the harassment of nude beach goers and to protect the rights of naturist and nudist beach users consistent with Hawaii state law.  We believe the Hawaii representative of the Naturist Action Committee has been…
♫ Cedar Trails To You! ♫ - I happened to be crossing the bottom half of the state today.  I was on my own and with no fixed schedule, so I decided to not take the most direct route home.  Instead, I detoured a little south and made a stop at Cedar Trails Nudist Retreat (CTNR) in Peebles.  I’ve been wanting to check out this resort for some time, but just never seemed to find the opportunity to drive down that way.In anticipation of going to CTNR, I decided to do most of my driving naked, with the exception of an unbuttoned shirt.  The net effect is that I’m sitting in the driver’s seat, naked except for the sleeves of the shirt.  I think that this helps to keep people from wondering what is going on in my car if they should notice a totally bare chested man driving down the road.  There’s just something about a naked road trip, sun roof open, windows down and the wind of 65 MPH whipping through the car.  I love it!CTNR was not difficult to find, but is …
Legal Hackette Lunches with the ‘Naked Rambler’ - I meet Stephen Gough at the top of a hill overlooking Winchester prison, one of the jails in which he was incarcerated due to his desire not to wear clothes in public.Gough has cycled to the meeting point, which he selected. He is clothed in black lycra cycling shorts and an orange T-shirt — the latter of which quickly comes off due to the heat. After spending more than 10 years in prison because of his wish not to wear clothes, the 57-year-old former Marine has taken to dressing in order to be able to be a fulltime carer for his mother, who suffers from dementia. As debate rages about whether Muslim women should be permitted to cover their entire bodies when on the beach – a right which our hero ardently supports — Gough has found himself in trouble with the law for wearing too little. welsh invasion -naturist style - The nudist invasion of a Welsh beach today should not offend – nakedness has nothing to do with sex This morning those who harbour quite literal naked ambition will be heading for the Vale of Glamorgan for The Great British Skinny Dip. The event which invites swimmers to skip into the waves off Monknash Beach unfettered by bikinis, bathing costumes or Speedos has been organised by British Naturism. While everyone else seems to be wondering what is the politically correct line to take on France’s burkini ban, the governing body of British nudists is telling us to get our kit off. Completely. All in the cause of healthy living, of course. Naturists always push stripping as a lifestyle activity as wholesome as a vegan super salad. According to a spokesman: “This great event will provide lots of opportunities for people to try costume-free swimming across many varied locations, whilst having fun and raising awareness of how many people’s buttoned up attitude to the human body is causing them to lead potentially unhealthy lives.” read more …
gawking stalking photographer punches top freedom protester in NYC - Topless Parade’ participant gets punched in throat by leering man The attack unfolded at the corner of 47th Street and Second Avenue, after the near-nude woman spat in the man’s face following an inappropriate comment, witnesses said. When the man, clad in a checkered red shirt, tailed and eventually confronted her, the woman spat in his face again, according to bystanders. He then clocked the exposed co-ed in the throat and shoved her before police closed in on the duo. Both were cuffed and led away from the rally, where only about 50 women and men bared their breasts to expose the lack of “equal topless rights for all.” The lack of support did not go unnoticed by those who opted to doff their tops — many taking part in the rally noted the crowds were mostly made of up gawking men and creeps with cameras. read more – Source: New York Post curator’s note The newspaper’s coverage is equally detaining in the way the parade participants are described.

Spirited Bodies and All The Young Nudes // Edinburgh, August 2016 - Originally posted on steve ritter:
Two great institutions of the British life art scene combined to present a very special one-off spectacular this summer. All The Young Nudes runs life drawing groups as club nights, complete with bar and ultra hip playlist in cities across Scotland. With the added consideration of very reasonable ticket prices, their gatherings are always hugely popular. On 23 August, they joined forces with Spirited Bodies in Edinburgh to coincide with the Fringe Festival. Spirited Bodies has been organising large scale multi-model events for first-time and experienced life models – primarily in London – since 2010. Artistic Director, Esther Bunting, last worked with All The Young Nudes in 2013 so this would be an exciting return foray. For me, however, it was to be a debut collaboration north of the border. I travelled up with Esther as her partner, roadie, photographer, and participating model. Our setting for the evening would be an alternative music venue: Studio 24. Esther had booked ten models about a month in advance, but individual issues right…
Erections and Perceptions — Naturist Lens - A friend of mine in cyberspace sent me an email commenting and wondering about my photos which generally let the viewer know that I am skyclad, but somehow not showing my penis. Whom are you naked for? - Surprising question? Don’t be surprised. Just consider the question and think of a good answer. You have until the end of this post to come up with something good (but pay attention here!) Whom are you naked for? Here is that question again. I have found that many dedicated nudists still have some reserve about being naked in places where they can be seen. Of course being at a nude beach or in a naturist resort there is no problem. But tell me: would you drive your car naked? I would. I’ve done it many times already and I will keep doing it, unless it’s just too cold. Yes, there is the chance that people see me. I know that. There is also the chance that lightning strikes and kills me (although not on that particular day as it was at least 100F, which is quite insane for where I live). The thing is that I am naked for myself. Because I enjoy it. Also in my car, which I declare my personal, moving naturist …

We’ll  have a few events throughout the day on Saturday, 20 Aug (raincheck Sunday) at my favorite Gunnison beach on Sandy Hook peninsula (just across the bay from New York City) : long jump around noon; wrestling around 2pm running and swimming races during low tide time – to run on wet sand/swim in shallower water – between 3pm and 5pm; 100m and 500m; discus throw (frisbee) at 6pm; + there are always volleyball games going on at Sandy Hook; and maybe we can even have some gymnastics and capoeira! https://vimeo.com/69651813 Look out for our Gymnasium banner on the right hand side of the beach (looking at the ocean). I am a wild woman - “Be wild; that is how to clear the river. The river does not flow in polluted, we manage that. The river does not dry up, we block it. If we want to allow it its freedom, we have to allow our ideational lives to be let loose, to stream, letting anything come, initially censoring nothing. That is creative life. It is made up of divine paradox. To create one must be willing to be stone stupid, to sit upon a throne on top of a jackass and spill rubies from one’s mouth. Then the river will flow, then we can stand in the stream of it raining down.” . Clarissa Pinkola Estés:Women Who Run With The Wolves: I believe in beautiful strong women Love, Naja

dylan hamm: naked faces photography project - Vancouver-based photographer Dylan Hamm envisioned his Naked Faces series to physically capture the impact of being naked on someone’s face.  Dylan put the project together by putting out an open call for subjects in January this year, looking for people willing to be photographed while naked – albeit without any of the nudity being included in the final images.  He then photographed each of the subjects with their clothes on and again after they had stripped, but just from the neck up.  ‘The purpose of this was to demonstrate the differing facial expressions between clothed and not, to physically capture evidence of the impact that something as simple as being naked can have on subtle facial expressions,’ he explains.  ‘Men and women looking nervous, happier, silly all these emotions giving a fleeting glimpse into the inner workings of these subjects - via totally involuntary facial communication,’ Dylan writes.  In the end, Dylan explains that the results likely raise more questions as to the level of consciousness behind the changes or even as to how gender …
Live (Top)Free or Die: roses and thorns from New Hampshire - Originally posted on breastsarehealthy:
Weir’s Beach, Laconia, New Hampshire, Summer 2016. New Hampshire has been debating topfreedom for more than a year, but after one court ruling and two legislative debates falling in favor of allowing female bare-chestedness, more and more women have been doing so. New Hampshire’s state motto is, “Live Free or Die,” which was taken from a toast made by a Revolutionary Army General named John Stark.  (The phrase was used widely in the French Revolution prior to that, according to Wikipedia.) The motto has created a lot of irony over the years, as New Hampshire has continually been a cultural battleground between traditional, fiercely independent isolationists and the waves of transplants that vacation and retire there from the more urban areas to its south. New Hampshire is also virtually entirely white in population, (94% white, 2% Asian-American, 1% African-American), and there can exists a palpable lack of nuance in their statewide conversations about racial equality.  Likewise with regards to gender equality, the state’s 400+ member “citizen legislature” will sometimes pass or…

FAO Esther: an email arrived from Scotland on 22nd July. All The Young Nudes wondered if I might be about in Edinburgh in August, to hold an event with them for the festival. We had done 3 events across Glasgow (with ATYN) and Edinburgh (with Edinburgh Drawing School at Marchmont St Giles parish church centre, and at Arts Complex, St Margaret’s House). At the end of the evening, Steve and I clearing away. Taken by a model The event would be held at Studio 24, an alternative nightclub in the heart of the city, and a festival venue. He gave me access almost instantly. I opened the map and couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw Harmen…. Naked! wow: i’m here, i’m me - August 19-21, 2016 I found myself running around the hills and trees of Camp Ramblewood stark naked during Field Festival 2016. I was one of very few women who had opted to go nude at this clothing optional event. What’s more is that I was the only black woman who chose to bare much of anything. Black women wore the most clothing of all women present at that festival, even as other women of color experimented with going bare chested or completely nude. I find nothing wrong with one choosing to wear clothes. I believe that we all should have the right to choose how much or how little we want to wear and to be respected. And I should also note that I did not poll the women at the festival to ask them why they chose to wear what they wore. In fact, many people took this festival as an opportunity to use clothing etc. to express themselves in ways they might not normally get to do in la vie quotidienne. However, this …

I used to hide my body under towels, bathing suits, and oversize sweatshirts. Now I prefer not to cover it with anything at all - I Walk Around Naked as Much as Possible My skin is happiest when there is no fabric trying to bunch into its crevices. Deciding what to wear is a nuisance, and if I’m bloated, everything looks strained. If I have to pee quickly, it’s pleasant not having to unclasp, unbutton, or untangle. Sex is easiest without clothes. I love being naked. Luckily, I live on an acre of land and can walk to pretty much any part of the property without my white hiney and drained, breastfeeding boobs being spotted by human eyes (the squirrels can’t get enough). An unexpected delivery truck did once pull up the driveway when I was taking out the trash, my body unadorned with clothing — it was awkward. I have no desire to join a nudist colony — I wouldn’t know where to look when talking to someone. But I do wish clothing never became a “thing.” At least in Southern California, where it is usually warm enough to make clothing optional. If we never became accustomed to wearing …
My positive experience going to a nude beach - I Went To A Nude Beach And Loved Every Minute Of It I recently read an article about a woman’s negative experience with her first time at a clothing optional beach. I wanted to share my experience to show that not all nude beaches are uncomfortable. You don’t have to feel like a sexual object just because you are naked. This summer has been the season of firsts for me. Feeling adventurous, I decided to go to a clothing optional beach while I was in Hawaii. While in Pahoa, HI I was living with very open minded, accepting individuals. Nudity wasn’t a big deal in our small community. Taking that nudity public, however, was a little scary to me. I am a sexual assault survivor. I have PTSD from my assault and sometimes I can’t even stand to be touched. I have shaved before, just around the time it was coming into fashion and being ‘the norm’, and I didn’t like it. I grew it back and have been hirsute ever since, against ‘fashion’ for all this time. There Is No Biblical Reason Why Women Can’t Go Topless? - Originally posted on Catholic In The 21st Century:

While looking up Bible verses for a post I was writing earlier today, I found that in Genesis 3:7, which describes the moment when Adam and Eve eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, a lot of the translations of that verse say that Adam and Eve made loincloths — clothes that cover the lower half of their body: (The following translation come from this website.) heidi stevens: naked trump statues are beneath us - We don’t get to be the movement that preaches inclusiveness — particularly around gender — if we embrace this type of mockery. We can’t, in good conscience, advocate for civil rights protections for transgender folks — to safely use public restrooms, for example — if we point and laugh at reproductive organs. We can’t push for women to fill more offices — political and glass — and then indicate that lacking testicles is a liability. “Nothing is being said by the piece that is difficult for one in the current political climate to say — that Trump is a joke, or that fat people must be shamed, or that male bodies that don’t conform to masculine notions of genitalia deserve scorn,” Meghna Sridhar writes in a Feministing essay. “Indeed, the real naked emperors seem to be the installation’s smug audience instead, parading around in seeming robes of progressive politics, which actually, upon closer inspection, are their own naked delusions of open-minded, non-oppressive grandeur.” More simply, she asks: “Are we really turning the tables on the …

finding naked pics how computers do it - HOW COMPUTERS FIND NAKED PEOPLE We are all just collections of limbs and appendages, naked before the Internet. Some of us—or some of our devices—just may not know this yet. Curiously, it’s our devices that lag that lag behind in this regard. The Internet, as was correctly noted in Avenue Q, may be for porn, but identifying nudity is not technology’s forte. As such, content moderation is still a tedious human labor, and as Adrian Chen documented in his excellent 2014 Wired feature, it’s a soul-crushing search for dick pics—among other things. So, here we are. It’s 2016, and as Clarifai “data scientist and NSFW enthusiast” Ryan Compton (yes, that’s his title) puts it: “the discovery of nude pictures has been a central problem in computer vision for over two decades. Potter Stewart’s “I know it when I see it” maxim doesn’t apply to technology. Devices don’t really see things—not in any conventional sense. Computers can recognize patterns, but that raises the question of what nudity looks like as a pattern. Humanity, as anyone with …
